Potential Hours (depending on availability):
Full Time: 5+ days a week, 8+ hours/day, 8:00am – 5:00pm daily
Part Time/Weekends/Full Shift: 8+ hours/day, 8:00am – 5:00pm daily
Part Time/Half Shift: 4-5 hours/day 8:00am-12:00pm & 1:00pm-5:00pm
Overview:
Relaxed work environment with wonderful boarders and opportunities to ride and gain experience on a showing and breeding farm with mares, foals, young horses, senior horses, and all the way up to Grand Prix level horses. Responsibilities include handling, turn in/out, feeding, stall cleaning, bedding, sweeping, blanketing, basic care, injury assessment and treatments. Opportunity to train young horses and ride as well. Previous horse experience and a reliable vehicle is a requirement. Some heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs required (hay and feed bags).
Duties:
***This position is for a full day of physical activity***
- Morning, afternoon (if required) and evening feed (hay and grain for inside and outside horses)
- Turn out/turn in
- Boots, bandaging, blanketing, fly mask and fly spray administration as needed
- Stall cleaning and bedding (up to 19 stalls)
- Care for outdoor boarded horses (up to 3 small groups)
- Sweeping
- Watering and cleaning of water and feed buckets, and outdoor waterers
- Arena and wash stall maintenance (raking and regular cleaning)
- Distributing hay outside in the winter months
- Assisting veterinarians, farriers and other equine care practitioners as needed
- Ground work with young horses (weanlings, yearlings, stud colts) and broodmares
- Some heavy lifting will be required (approx. 50 lbs hay bales and feed bags)
